Job summary

CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) is seeking a Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain a large-scale wired and wireless network for state and local government customers. The role focuses on evaluation, integration, testing, and security of the network infrastructure, with collaboration across stakeholders and vendors.

Responsibilities include monitoring and documenting the network, applying patches, and ensuring robust performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
• Strong documentation skills including updating JIRA Tickets, Wiki Pages and Network Diagrams.
• Ability to communicate with end users and cross-organizational staff.
• CWNA Certification or equivalent.
• BCNE Certification or equivalent.
• Experience with RF site survey tools such as Ekahau, Wireshark, RF Scanners.
• Knowledge of layer 2 switching, layer 3 routing, VLANs, OSPF, VRRP.
• Security knowledge: 802.1x, MAC Authentication, ACLs, RADIUS, CA.

Responsibilities

• Operate and manage NPS network infrastructure.
• Improve infrastructure monitoring and reporting capabilities.
• Maintain infrastructure documentation related to network infrastructure.
• Review best practices and provide architectural recommendations.
• Onboard and monitor wireless network health; apply security patches and updates.
• Assess network infrastructure and propose improvements.
• Define testing procedures for new infrastructure projects.
• Implement network solutions within NPS projects.
• Provide design guidance on network solutions.
• Train NPS resources on best practices and operation theories.
