Job summary

Google seeks a Network Engineer to design, implement, and improve the enterprise network at scale. You will help develop and validate new features while ensuring reliable operations across worldwide data centers and metro locations.

You will scale systems through automation, drive changes to improve reliability and velocity, and participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation for Tier 3 support, collaborating with peers on complex projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/engineering.
• 6 years of experience with network routing protocols, design, troubleshooting with equipment providers.
• Experience with C++, Go, or Python.
• Experience with network technologies such as VXLAN, BGP EVPN, 802.1x, LACP, Encryption, key management, micro segmentation, ACL.

Responsibilities

• Develop solutions for Google's Enterprise network, qualify and validate new features.
• Scale systems through tools and automation to improve reliability and velocity.
• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation for SME Tier 3 support.

Job description

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 6 years of experience with network routing protocols, design and troubleshooting, with network equipment providers.
  
• Experience in one or more programming languages such as C++, Go, or Python.
  
• Experience with network technologies/protocols (e.g., VXLAN, BGP EVPN, 802.1x, LACP, Encryption, key management, Micro segmentation, ACL).

Preferred qualifications:

• CCIE, PCNSE, FCP certifications or production environment equivalent level experience.
• Familiarity with leveraging AI tools to enable network feature development velocity and accelerate daily workflow.
• Knowledge of Python and Go programming languages.
• Knowledge of Linux.
• Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with excellent communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
US: $150000 - $217000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities:

• Be responsible for development of solutions for Google's Enterprise network, executing new features qualification and validation through network development, deployment, operation, and optimization.
• Scale systems sustainably through tools and automation, and evolve systems by driving change that improves reliability and velocity, reliably serving Google Enterprise Network team’s customers.
• Participate in 24x7 on call rotation for subject matter expert (SME) Tier 3 support requirements as needed.
• Coordinate and take lead of assigned projects in all technical and communication aspects.
• Coach and collaborate with peer engineers towards achieving common goals in assigned projects.
