Job summary

Google is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to design, implement, and operate Google's global Enterprise network. You will work on software-enabled network features, automation, and reliability across data centers and metro points of presence.

The role emphasizes designing scalable, secure networking solutions with VXLAN/BGP EVPN, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. On-call rotations and ownership of critical network components are part of the job.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/Engineering or related field.
• 6 years of experience with network routing protocols, design and troubleshooting with network equipment providers.
• Experience with programming languages such as C++, Go, or Python.
• Experience with network technologies/protocols (VXLAN, BGP EVPN, 802.1x, LACP, encryption, key management, micro-segmentation, ACL).

Responsibilities

• Develop solutions for Google's Enterprise network, qualifying and validating new features through development, deployment, operation, and optimization.
• Scale systems sustainably by using tools and automation, improving reliability and velocity for Google Enterprise Network customers.
• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation for SME Tier 3 support as needed.
• Coordinate and lead assigned projects across technical and communication aspects.
• Coach and collaborate with peers to achieve common goals on projects.

Job description

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6 years of experience with network routing protocols, design and troubleshooting, with network equipment providers.
• Experience in one or more programming languages such as C++, Go, or Python.
• Experience with network technologies/protocols (e.g., VXLAN, BGP EVPN, 802.1x, LACP, Encryption, key management, Micro segmentation, ACL).

Preferred qualifications:

• CCIE, PCNSE, FCP certifications or production environment equivalent level experience.
• Familiarity with leveraging AI tools to enable network feature development velocity and accelerate daily workflow.
• Knowledge of Python and Go programming languages.
• Knowledge of Linux.
• Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with excellent communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $150000 - $217000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

• Be responsible for development of solutions for Google's Enterprise network, executing new features qualification and validation through network development, deployment, operation, and optimization.
• Scale systems sustainably through tools and automation, and evolve systems by driving change that improves reliability and velocity, reliably serving Google Enterprise Network team’s customers.
• Participate in 24x7 on call rotation for subject matter expert (SME) Tier 3 support requirements as needed.
• Coordinate and take lead of assigned projects in all technical and communication aspects.
• Coach and collaborate with peer engineers towards achieving common goals in assigned projects.
