Job summary

Jarvis Walker & Foster McKay is seeking a Network Engineer specializing in Voice over IP to design, implement, and maintain VoIP and networking solutions for our clients in New York. You will address security, routing, and switching, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate voice services with existing infrastructure.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree and strong hands-on experience with SIP, CUCM, SBCs, and related tools, plus the ability to troubleshoot complex voice-network

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Network Engineer focused on Voice over IP technologies.
• Strong knowledge of SIP, H.323, RTP/RTCP protocols.
• Proficiency with CUCM or other major VoIP platforms.
• Experience with network monitoring tools.

Job description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and implement VoIP/networking solutions, including hardware, software, and network configurations, to meet business requirements
• Manage Cyber security of local and remote network infrastructure. This includes planning, designing, testing, implementing and maintaining all aspects of the infrastructure
• Design & Implementation of routing & switching technologies & platforms
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate VoIP systems with existing network infrastructure, applications, and services
• Isolate and resolve network related service problems, diagnose and correct problems resulting from component failure and network degradation
• Establish and Implement network management policies and guidelines to ensure the maximum availability of the client networks.
• Understand hardware and software capacities in order to modify or enhance high quality network system infrastructure
• Conduct regular network assessments and capacity planning to anticipate future voice communication needs and recommend improvements
• Stay abreast of industry trends in order to proactively identify areas for growth, improvement, and development with the capability to implement industry best practices
• Document network designs, configurations, and procedures, maintaining accurate records for future reference
• Participate in the on-call rotation to provide timely resolution of critical voice network issues

Education/Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Network Engineer, specifically focused on Voice over IP technologies.
• In-depth knowledge of VoIP protocols and standards, such as SIP, H.323, RTP, and RTCP.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, including TCP/IP, VLAN, QoS, and routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP).
• Experience with VoIP gateways, session border controllers (SBCs), IP PBX systems, and soft-switches.
• Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) and/or other major VoIP platforms.
• Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex voice network issues.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Proactive attitude towards learning and adapting to new technologies and industry developments.
