Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a seasoned VoIP/UC engineer in Kentucky to design, deploy, and optimize enterprise voice and collaboration environments, including CUCM, UCCX, and Voice Gateway. You will develop playbooks, automate repetitive tasks with scripts, and support complex VoIP configurations for on‑premise or cloud deployments.

Collaborating with Network, Cybersecurity, Cloud, and Application teams, you will analyze SIP signaling, perform packet captures with Wireshark, and tune performance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
Five (5) or more years of relevant experience required.
Cisco Certified Voice Professional (CCVP) or equivalent certifications preferred.
Experience leading site surveys and capacity planning for VoIP deployments preferred.
Experience migrating legacy TDM/PBX to modern VoIP architecture preferred.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, optimize, support, and evolve enterprise voice and UC environment.
Deploy complex VoIP network configurations for on-premise or cloud networks.
Assist in developing playbooks for network systems and integrating new systems and tools.
Develop and maintain scripts to automate network administration.
Architect and engineer enterprise VoIP and UC solutions, including CUCM, UCCX, and Voice Gateway.
Design complex dial plans, partitions, and route patterns.
Serve as the primary escalation point for voice network issues.
Analyze SIP signaling and packet captures to resolve jitter and latency problems.
Monitor network performance and perform tuning and optimization.
Identify trends and root causes to reduce future incidents.
Collaborate with various teams on modernization initiatives.

Job description

• Design, implement, optimize, support, and strategically evolve the enterprise voice and collaboration environment
• Deploy complex VoIP network configurations for on-premise or cloud-based networks
• Assist in developing playbooks for network systems and integrating new systems and tools
• Develop and maintain scripts to facilitate network administration and automate repetitive processes
• Architect and engineer enterprise VoIP and Unified Communications solutions, including CUCM, UCCX, and Voice Gateway
• Design complex dial plans, partitions, Calling Search Spaces, translation patterns, and route patterns
• Serve as the primary escalation point for complex voice network issues
• Analyze packet captures and SIP signaling to resolve jitter, latency, and call-routing failures
• Monitor network performance, identify improvement areas, and implement performance tuning
• Identify issue trends and determine root causes to reduce future incidents
• Analyze and interpret traffic and service utilization on VoIP network connections
• Participate in Private SaaS, Edge Computing, and advanced cloud capability initiatives
• Analyze alternative hardware, platforms, and technologies for network infrastructure
• Partner with Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Cloud, Application Development, OT, and business stakeholders
• Participate in architectural reviews, technology evaluations, modernization initiatives, and roadmap planning
• Create and maintain technical documentation, lead cross-functional discussions, and mentor engineers

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, related field, or equivalent experience preferred
Five (5) or more years of relevant experience required
Cisco Certified Voice Professional (CCVP) or equivalent certifications preferred
Experience leading site surveys, capacity planning, end user requirement analysis, and physical/logical deployment of VoIP hardware and software preferred
Experience migrating legacy TDM/PBX systems to modern VoIP architecture preferred
Experience planning and executing major system upgrades, patches, firmware updates, and database replication health checks across publisher and subscriber nodes preferred
Experience with enterprise-scale data centers, network topologies, and architectures preferred
Experience with RTP and media concepts, SDP, codecs (G.711, G.729, Opus, DTMF), secure signaling (TLS/mTLS, SRTP) preferred
Deep understanding of routing, switching, Quality of Service, traffic engineering, filtering, and tuning highly preferred
Exposure to Ansible and Python scripting preferred
Experience with Wireshark and call analysis platforms preferred
