We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to become an integral part of our team! You will be responsible for designing and implementing computer and information networks.
This is a hybrid role based in Chicago, IL, requiring the team member to be in the office 3 days per week.
Primary Purpose of Position:
Engineer, manage, and deploy our client's global enterprise IP network infrastructure supporting 1,100+ users. Serve on a team providing sustaining engineering and troubleshooting for that infrastructure.
Design networks considering redundancy, availability, scalability, security, and manageability to ensure the success of Intelsat’s critical enterprise network infrastructure.
The Senior Network Engineer should have at least 8+ years of experience with a CCDA or CCNA certification.
Responsibilities:
- Implement LAN, WAN, intranets, extranets, and other data networks.
- Develop and execute test plans to evaluate infrastructure and system performance.
- Perform network modeling and analysis.
- Define blueprint designs for business technology initiatives.
- Enforce policies for standardizing systems.
- Experience with routing protocols and network design, including configuring and troubleshooting BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, RIP-1/2, PBR, and WCCP.
- Knowledge of dual-homing service providers and ISP redundancy.
- Extensive experience with Cisco hardware: switches, routers, ASRs, ASA, FWSM, IPS, load balancers, Nexus.
- Detailed knowledge of F5 Load Balancing (LTM and GTM).
- Hands-on troubleshooting skills including packet tracing, debugging, and analysis.
- Knowledge of security protocols, TACACS, RADIUS, VPNs, and remote access.
- Experience with LAN switching technologies: STP, PVST, CGMP, IGMP, 802.XX, Gigabit Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, VLAN/Trunking, Etherchannel, Wireless, HSRP, VRRP.
- Understanding of VoIP and QoS for voice traffic (highly desirable).
- Experience with transport technologies: SONET, ATM, Frame Relay, Terrestrial/Satellite leased lines.
- Familiarity with RF systems (C Band, Ku band), IF, L-Band, RF system diagrams.
- Designing datacenter redundancy and failover strategies.
- Certifications: CCDA, CCNA, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of network architecture best practices, system design, and implementation.
- Familiarity with network management and automation tools.
- Strong communication, documentation, and analytical skills.
