Job summary

Amazon Inc. in Arlington, VA is seeking a Senior Network Development Engineer to own AWS Networking IP networks end to end, from design through implementation and operations.

You will drive design of highly available, hyper-scale networks and lead the teams delivering them, while partnering with software engineers to automate deployment and improve reliability. You will collaborate with geographically diverse teams, mentor engineers, and influence roadmaps, with a focus on operational excellence

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or relevant security certs listed in Basic Qualifications.
• 8+ years of major internet routing protocols experience.
• 5+ years of Linux/Unix environment experience.
• 3+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl.
• Experience with IP networking technologies (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, TCP, SLB).
• Network design, engineering, implementations and operations experience.
• Experience leading solutioning, planning, and network growth/operations.

Responsibilities

• Own current and developing IP networks end to end from design to operations.
• Lead design of highly available, hyper-scale networks and deployment procedures.
• Define strategy and roadmaps within and outside the team.
• Lead projects and select initiatives that support the team's mission.
• Partner with network engineers and software developers to automate deployment and operations.
• Drive operational excellence projects to improve network performance.
• Troubleshoot complex problems and implement network changes.
• Hire, mentor, and coach engineers.
