Job summary

University of California, Irvine seeks a senior network coding specialist to supervise development, optimization, validation, and support of coding applications across the organization. You will apply ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS, and reimbursement guidelines to ensure compliant code assignment and efficient revenue-cycle performance.

Qualifications

• RHIT/RHIA/CCS certification and experience in acute care coding environments.
• Strong customer service and English communication skills.
• 5+ years in acute care inpatient/outpatient coding, compliance, or revenue cycle operations.
• Experience translating requirements into system configurations, validation rules, and workflow enhancements.
• Experience developing automated coding edits or clinical decision support.
• Ability to collaborate with IT, HIM, RI, CDI, PFS, vendors, and leadership.
• Experience with CAC, CDI, and network coding platforms (Solventum, Cirius, SmarterDx, Epic).
• Ability to manage multiple initiatives and communicate complex regulatory concepts.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and optimization of network coding applications and interfaces.
• Evaluate coding regulations and reimbursement guidelines to drive compliance and efficiency.
• Define validation rules, automation, and coding edits for accuracy.
• Collaborate with HIM, RI, CDI, IT, and vendors to implement solutions.
• Provide guidance to operational teams on coding system functionality and workflows.
