Job summary

Applied Network Solutions, Inc. (ANS) seeks a Sr. Design Engineer (Access) to join our Chantilly, VA team. The role requires TS/SCI with Polygraph and 16 years of combined experience, focusing on secure MPLS network design, secure configurations, and operator support.

You will develop secure network designs aligned with DISA STIGs, document designs, brief stakeholders, and ensure regulatory compliance while improving services and performance.

Qualifications

• TS/SCI with Polygraph required.
• 16 years of experience with a combination of work history and education.
• Design and improve MPLS network architecture and services.
• Develop secure network designs aligned with DISA STIGs and obtain ATO.
• Lab evaluation, testing, integration with NMS, and security certification.
• Evaluate new network technologies, solutions and services.
• Document designs with diagrams, BOMs, cabling, configurations.
• Provide technical expertise to Operations engineers.
• Configure and troubleshoot QoS and traffic optimization.
• DoD 8140 IAT Level 2 compliance.
• Juniper certs: JNCIA, JNCIP, JNCIE.

Responsibilities

• Design and improve MPLS network architecture and related services.
• Develop secure designs meeting DISA/STIG requirements and obtain ATO.
• Evaluate technologies; conduct lab testing and integration with NMS.
• Provide technical guidance to Operations engineers and technicians.
• Configure QoS and optimize traffic to maximize bandwidth.
• Support Tier‑4 troubleshooting and proactive network analysis.
