Job summary

University of Iowa Health Care seeks a Network Architect/Manager to lead the Network Engineering & Architecture team. This role blends leadership with direct technical contribution in enterprise network design, standards, lifecycle management, and delivery for the health system.

The candidate will guide a team of network architects and engineers, drive proactive planning, and engage in complex design and troubleshooting as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5–7 years of data communications hardware and software experience.
• Experience with routers, switches, Wi‑Fi, and network management platforms.
• 1–3 years training end-users; 1–3 years troubleshooting with tools.
• Valid driver’s license; occasional travel in eastern Iowa; flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and develop a team of network architects and engineers.
• Balance leadership with direct design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
• Set and enforce architectural standards and lifecycle planning.
• Own enterprise network strategy including core routing, WAN, and wireless.
• Direct site work for routers, switches, Wi‑Fi, and management platforms; perform as needed.
• Maintain network documentation and design baselines.
• Provide technical guidance and incident leadership; 24x7 on-call as rotation.
• Manage carrier/ISP relationships, quotes, contracts, and billing.
• Assist with KPI tracking, ITSM, and incident reviews.
