Job summary

The County of Galveston seeks an experienced network engineer to design, implement, secure and maintain the county's enterprise network and communications infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, wireless, VoIP and data center connectivity.

Under the Network Services Manager, you will act as primary architect for enterprise network initiatives and support Cisco Nexus fabrics, SD-WAN, VPNs and security infrastructure, ensuring resilience and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Computer Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Seven years of experience in route/switch, wireless and security of LAN/WAN.
• Experience with Cisco Nexus data center fabrics and Catalyst switches.
• Experience with Cisco firewalls (Firepower), ISE, WLAN products.
• Experience with Cisco IP telephony (VOIP) and QoS.
• Experience with VPNs, TACACS/ISE, and BGP/OSPF.
• Experience with SD-WAN platforms such as Peplink and Edge resiliency.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer, implement and maintain enterprise network infrastructure.
• Serve as primary architect for enterprise network initiatives under guidance.
• Administer Cisco AnyConnect VPN infrastructure and secure remote access.
• Interface with suppliers and staff to maximize efficiency of systems.
• Maintain diagrams for network, data center and site connectivity.
• Ensure regulatory and security requirements, including disaster recovery.
