Job summary

County of Galveston seeks a Network Engineer to design, implement, secure, and maintain the county’s enterprise network and communications. You will support LAN, WAN, wireless, VoIP, and data center connectivity, working under the Network Services Manager to architect critical initiatives.

You will design Cisco Nexus fabrics, support SD-WAN with Peplink, manage VPN infrastructure and secure inter-site links, while ensuring regulatory and security requirements and disaster recovery readiness.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Computer Information Systems or equivalent experience.
• Minimum seven years of experience in route/switching, wireless and security of LAN/WAN.
• Experience with Cisco Nexus data center fabrics and Cisco IP telephony.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer, implement and maintain enterprise network and communications infrastructure (LAN, WAN, wireless, VoIP, data centers).
• Serve as primary architect for enterprise network initiatives under the Network Services Manager.
• Administer and support Cisco AnyConnect VPN, ensure secure remote access for staff and partners.
• Ensure network and security systems meet regulatory and CJIS requirements; disaster recovery planning and business continuity.
• Coordinate with vendors and participate in budget planning for upgrades and lifecycle replacements.

Please click on the Apply button if interested in this job.**General Description**The purpose of this class is to engineer, implement, secure and maintain the County’s enterprise network and communications. **Duties and Responsibilities****The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class.
