Job description

Experience

  • At least five years of experience designing complex networks configured with high availability.
  • Managing Cisco routers & switches, wireless technologies, cabling systems, firewalls, UPS power systems, SNMP.
  • Experience in designing networking infrastructure, working with all aspects of configuring routers & switches, hardware & software upgrades, network protocols, LAN / WLAN / WAN based networks.
  • Eight years' experience designing complex networks configured with high availability.
  • Managing WLAN & VoIP networks, Unix / Linux, Aruba wireless technology, remote access services, network management / monitoring, Palo Alto firewalls, and Mobile Device Management.
  • Deep knowledge in Routing protocols - IGRP, BGP, ISIS, OSPF, as well as familiarity with Fabric SDN.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Management, Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent.

Training

  • Network design, Cisco routers, switches, VPN concentrators, firewalls, wireless access points, IDS, CiscoWorks, WLSE, and high availability redundant designing.
  • Experience in complex infrastructure projects as both a lead and a technical resource.

Special Skills

  • Skills in working with desktop devices (PCs, printers, VTs) & Windows operating systems.
  • Strong task & project management skills, teamwork abilities with multiple IS groups & departmental user groups.
  • Ability to ensure tasks & projects are completed successfully and timely.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to minimize disruptions & unplanned downtimes.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to perform administrative responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

Functions as a member of a highly trained & skilled Technical Services Team responsible for designing, evaluating, purchasing, testing, installing & maintaining hardware & software for the enterprise-wide network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance for a multi-facility health system with 3000+ users.

Performance Expectations

  1. Under general direction, responsible for architecting, evaluating, purchasing, testing, installing & maintaining hardware & software for the enterprise-wide network infrastructure.
  2. Manage and monitor overall infrastructure performance of the organization's network of 3000+ users.
  3. Demonstrate technical knowledge & experience with firewalls, UPS systems, wireless tech, remote access, and network management tools; ensure network security and reliability.
  4. Lead new network designs & implementations, including planning, documentation, and environmental considerations.
  5. Monitor network components using appropriate tools, perform scheduled maintenance & upgrades.
  6. Analyze issues, diagnose problems, and determine resolutions efficiently using troubleshooting tools.
  7. Escalate problems timely to management and serve as an escalation point for network engineers.
  8. Document problem-solving procedures for team use and ensure preventive maintenance practices.
  9. Provide on-call support as needed, including Level Two troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
