Alpha Omega is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for a Federal project, based in a hybrid Vienna, VA location. You will support, maintain, and improve legacy Classic ASP/VBScript and ASP.NET Web Forms applications, along with a Windows-based .NET document-processing system.

Requirements include US citizenship, a CS/IT degree or equivalent, 6+ years in enterprise Microsoft environments, strong SQL Server skills, and experience with Git-based workflows and CI/CD.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship and ability to pass the client-required criminal and financial background investigation.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Six or more years of professional software development or application-support experience in an enterprise Microsoft environment, including hands-on maintenance of legacy applications.
• Practical experience with Classic ASP/VBScript, ASP.NET Web Forms, VB.NET, or C# on .NET Framework; able to understand unfamiliar code and make safe changes.
• Strong SQL Server skills, including writing and troubleshooting queries and stored procedures.
• Experience supporting IIS-hosted applications and Windows servers; PowerShell for support/automation.
• Experience with Git-based source control and enterprise build/release pipelines (GitHub Enterprise, Azure DevOps, or TFS).
• Knowledge of authentication concepts (Windows/AD, Microsoft Entra ID, AD FS, SAML).
• Strong incident analysis, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with business users and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of SDLC, secure coding, design patterns, and production change-management practices.

Responsabilités

• Provide Tier 3 support for mission-critical applications; triage incidents and deliver durable fixes.
• Maintain and enhance legacy Microsoft applications (Classic ASP/VBScript, ASP.NET Web Forms) on .NET Framework using VB.NET and C#.
• Support Windows-based background processing and document workflows (file handling, conversion, status tracking).
• Develop and maintain SQL Server queries, stored procedures, and data-access code; investigate performance issues.
• Support IIS-hosted applications and Windows environments, including deployments and troubleshooting.
• Build and support secure integrations with enterprise APIs and services with least-privilege access and secure credentials.
• Clarify requirements with business/technical stakeholders; communicate risks and trade-offs.
• Develop prototypes and incremental improvements; document decisions and handoffs.
• Use source control and CI/CD to promote changes across environments; improve verification and testing practices.
• Follow change-control and operating procedures; implement regression/integration/deployment tests.
