Job summary

MetLife is seeking a Senior Software/Platform Engineer to join its Global Technology team in Massachusetts. You will own the design and delivery of cloud-native, microservices-based treasury platforms on Azure, using AKS, Istio, and REST APIs.

The role emphasizes deep troubleshooting, scalable architectures, and secure cloud solutions for global financial operations. You will partner with Agile teams to build resilient systems, leverage AI/automation, and work in a hybrid setup with a minimum

Qualifications

• 5+ years of enterprise software development experience with strong hands‑on expertise in .NET, C#, and RESTful API development.
• Hands‑on Azure cloud infrastructure experience (AKS, Azure Service Bus, Azure Monitor, App Insights).
• Hands‑on expertise in containerization (Docker) and orchestration using AKS.
• Strong working knowledge of Istio service mesh (traffic management, security, observability).
• Experience with distributed systems troubleshooting, performance tuning, and debugging complex production issues.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable enterprise applications using .NET, C#, REST APIs
• Hands‑on Azure infrastructure work; deploying and managing AKS clusters
• Design and build cloud‑native microservices deployed on AKS with container orchestration
• Implement Istio service mesh capabilities including traffic routing, observability, and security policies
• Perform deep troubleshooting across distributed systems and cloud infrastructure
