Job summary

B&A in North Charleston, SC, seeks a seasoned software professional to support a federal program in a legacy technology environment. You will develop and maintain .NET/C# applications, stabilize development and production setups, and drive data movement across COBOL/mainframe and modern platforms.

The role requires 5–8+ years of experience, strong .NET and SQL skills, data integration, and the ability to work with federal staff and vendors.

Qualifications

  • We require a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 5–8+ years of experience in software development and/or systems architecture.
  • Strong expertise in .NET Framework and .NET Core with C# development.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Visual Studio environments.
  • Experience with Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience with data integration, data movement, or ETL workflows.
  • Familiarity with COBOL or mainframe systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting and supporting development and deployment environments.
  • Understanding of system integration and distributed systems.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Preference for federal or highly regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with Databricks and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS).
  • Experience with data modeling and database design.
  • Exposure to AI/ML or advanced analytics tools.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, Azure Solutions Architect, Databricks Data Engineer, ITIL).
  • Active Top Secret clearance or ability to obtain TS/SCI.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and upkeep of .NET/C# applications in a legacy environment using Visual Studio.
  • Establish and stabilize development and production environments with stakeholders to resolve setup, configuration, and deployment issues.
  • Design and deliver data movement and integration solutions across legacy systems, databases, and modern platforms.
  • Analyze existing COBOL/mainframe components and recommend improvements for performance and reliability.
  • Support data modeling and ETL processes to maintain consistent data flow.
  • Collaborate with federal staff, vendors, and internal teams to sustain operations and align technically.
  • Contribute to architecture discussions on connectivity and performance.
  • Apply modern tools and technologies to strengthen data processing and analytics capabilities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and scalability within existing constraints.
  • Support documentation, knowledge transfer, and continuity of operations efforts.
