Job summary

The New York City Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is seeking an experienced Application Developer to design, develop, test, and support enterprise applications that drive the Corporation's operations in NYC. You will enhance existing .NET applications, create REST APIs, and participate in modernization while collaborating with stakeholders and senior engineers.

The role emphasizes strong C#/.NET skills, SQL, and experience with Azure DevOps, Git, and Microsoft Azure services.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
4+ years of professional software development experience.
Experience developing applications using C# and .NET.
Experience writing SQL queries and working with relational databases.
Understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
Experience with Git or other source control systems.
Experience developing or consuming REST APIs.
Exposure to HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, document, and maintain secure and reliable business applications.
Enhance and support existing custom .NET applications.
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues while providing ongoing application support.
Participate in the modernization of legacy applications using current .NET technologies.
Develop REST APIs and reusable application components.
Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions.
Participate in code reviews and follow established development standards and best practices.
Utilize Azure DevOps for work tracking, sprint planning, and software delivery.
Work with source control systems and follow established branching and deployment processes.
Support enterprise platforms including Dynamics 365, SharePoint, Formstack, and other business applications as required.
Assist with technical documentation and knowledge sharing across the team.
Stay current with Microsoft technologies and recommend opportunities for continuous improvement.
