Job summary

The Senior Application Developer at New York City Housing Development Corporation (HDC) leads design and development of enterprise applications, modernizing the portfolio, mentoring developers, and aligning engineering practices with organizational goals. This hands-on role reports to the Director of Application Development in NYC’s Financial District.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned .NET/C# developer with strong fundamentals, REST APIs, SQL, and experience with Dynamics 365, Power Platform,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience with C# and .NET for enterprise applications.
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
• Strong OO design principles and patterns.
• Experience with Git or other distributed version control.
• Experience mentoring other developers.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, document, test, and implement secure, scalable, and maintainable enterprise software solutions.
• Lead the modernization and enhancement of existing .NET applications.
• Participate in application architecture and technical design discussions.
• Develop RESTful APIs and reusable application components.
• Establish and promote software engineering best practices, coding standards, and design patterns.
• Perform code reviews and mentor developers to improve overall code quality and technical capability.
• Help implement and improve source control, branching strategies, CI/CD pipelines, and SDLC practices.
• Evaluate and leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and quality.
• Collaborate with project managers, business stakeholders, and IT leadership to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot complex application issues and provide technical leadership during production support.
• Contribute to technical documentation, architectural standards, and development guidelines.
• Develop solutions and integrations involving Dynamics 365, Power Platform, SharePoint, and other apps as needed.
• Stay current with emerging Microsoft technologies and align with HDC’s strategy.
