Job summary

AES Corporation seeks a Sr. NERC Compliance Program Specialist to join our Salt Lake City team. This full-time role supports the Internal Compliance Program, coordinates ICP reviews, and drives NERC risk assessments to ensure audit readiness for AES’s expanding energy portfolio.

The position emphasizes strong regulatory knowledge, excellent communication, and project coordination across Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and reporting tools. A senior background in compliance operations is preferred.

Qualifications

• Senior career level with core domain knowledge in compliance administration, technical writing, auditing, risk management, regulatory affairs, or utility operations.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in compliance administration, technical writing, auditing, risk management, regulatory affairs, or utility operations.
• Strong understanding of NERC Rules of Procedure, Registration and Certification; strong organizational, analytical, and project coordination skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, SharePoint, and reporting tools.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, Risk Management, or related field; knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards and compliance processes.

Responsibilities

• Report: Perform and report on NERC Compliance KPIs and various compliance program metrics.
• Coordinate and facilitate the annual Internal Compliance Program (ICP) review, documenting findings and identifying improvement opportunities.
• Assess: Conduct annual NERC compliance risk assessments and maintain the associated compliance risk register.
• Lead: Lead special projects related to NERC Compliance, such as establishing new programs for newly registered functions within AES.
• Manage: Serve as the primary administrative coordinator for audits, spot checks, self-certifications, and regulatory submissions.
