Job summary

NEI Electric Power Engineering is seeking an experienced System Studies Engineer focused on NERC Compliance to support renewable and electric power clients. You will validate and model for NERC compliance, with emphasis on inverter-based resources, and contribute to NEI's growing compliance practice.

The role entails leading NERC programs, developing controls, and delivering compliance documentation and reports while collaborating across engineering and operations teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or Power Systems from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in NERC compliance program management or related role.
• Proficiency in at least two of: PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD, TSAT.
• Understanding of relay protection and settings development.
• Strong knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards and their application.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support NERC compliance programs for renewable and electric power clients, including documentation and continuous-improvement plans.
• Serve as technical and regulatory resource for NERC Reliability Standards (PRC, FAC, MOD, VAR, EOP).
• Provide NERC compliance support for inverter-based resources, including modeling and readiness for new standards.
• Translate regulatory requirements into practical actions for engineering, operations, and clients.
• Develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, reports, and evidence packages.
