Job summary

The Hornblower Group seeks a qualified Second Mate to serve as navigation officer aboard a Training Support Vessel, ensuring accurate charts, voyage planning, and timely reports to the Master.

You will perform maintenance duties as directed by the Chief Mate, stand watches, and comply with USCG and STCW requirements. A valid US passport, TWIC, CAC, and proficiency with MS Office and shipboard systems are required.

Qualifications

• USCG Second Mate license with VSO/VSPSD and STCW.
• STCW requirements include OICNW; Able Seafarer-Deck; RFPNW; PSC; Medical Care Provider; ADV FF; Basic Training; GMDSS Operator; ECDIS; Lifeboatman; Wiper; PIC.

Responsibilities

• Serve as navigation officer.
• Maintain charts and publications.
• Prepare voyage plans; report to Master on voyage progress.
• Perform cleaning, painting, and maintenance as directed by the Chief Mate.
• Stand navigation watches as assigned.
• Additional duties as assigned.
