Job summary

U.S. Pacific Fleet seeks a professional engineer to provide technical direction to engineers and technicians up to GS-12 level.

The role ensures timely and technically sound execution of complex design projects, including documentation, drawings, and analyses for Navy requirements. The candidate will perform engineering studies to determine system requirements, modifications, and specifications, and will review progress while coordinating with multiple codes and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a professional engineer planning and coordinating engineering projects; developing technical work documents, drawings and correspondence; ensuring project work meets technical standards and compliance.
  • Education requirements include ABET-accredited program or equivalent credentials as outlined by OPM.
  • Professional licensure or EI/EIT/PE supports eligibility for federal engineering roles.
  • Alternative routes include FE exam or substantial engineering coursework with practical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advice, guidance, and technical direction to engineers and technicians.
  • Ensure timely, technically accurate execution of complex design projects and related documentation.
  • Perform engineering studies to determine system requirements, modifications, or specifications.
  • Review work in progress and report status, resource needs, and improvements.
  • Investigate aboard ships to obtain information for plans and adaptations.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, calculations, and specifications for Navy or customer needs.
  • Provide complete, technically correct analysis to resolve technical issues.

60 semester hours in engineering/science
Alternative bachelor in engineering-related field
