Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Firewall Engineer to support US Navy IT networks from a Suffolk, VA site. You will build, test and deploy perimeter security systems to ensure 24/7/365 availability and reliability.

Responsibilities include configuring firewall/DMZ infrastructure, performing root cause analysis, and coordinating with vendor support during outages. Skilled in Palo Alto, FortiGate, Panorama, and Cisco devices is required; TS/SCI eligibility is needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and nine years of experience.
• Expert experience with Palo Alto, Panorama, FortiGate, A10, and Cisco security devices.
• Experience developing SSL encryption/decryption for traffic inspection.
• Experience maintaining Firewall/DMZ infrastructure and packet filtering tech.
• Ability to perform root cause analysis and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities

• Build, design, test and deploy perimeter security systems.
• Compile records and reports on perimeter operations and maintenance.
• Provide input to problem management and remediation activities.
• Interface with vendor support during outages or degraded performance.
• Configure and test replacement perimeter devices.
• Plan and refresh hardware/software builds and cycles.
• Create and maintain standard operating procedures for perimeter systems.
• Attend weekly meetings and participate in security-related groups.
