Job summary

SAIC is seeking an experienced Systems Network Engineer II/III to support production and development environments for fleet operations, enterprise data operations, and cyber-resilient networks. This onsite San Diego role collaborates with cloud, cybersecurity, and fleet stakeholders to deliver rapid, secure network solutions.

The position emphasizes hands-on engineering, architecture, and thorough documentation, with travel up to 5% and active security clearances.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with 9+ years experience, or Master’s with 7+ years, or PhD/JD with 4+ years.
U.S. Citizenship and an active Secret Clearance to start; TS/SCI after start.
Experience in network engineering, cybersecurity, or related technical infrastructure roles.
Experience supporting Navy/DoD networks, shipboard or fleet environments.
Ability to prepare clear, engineering-level documentation for changes and risks.
Excellent written and verbal communication to explain risks and actions to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, monitor, and sustain resilient network architectures across production, development, testing, and fleet environments.
Coordinate with cloud, computer engineering, cybersecurity, and platform teams to enable operations.
Prepare cybersecurity policies, controls, and risk mitigation for network systems.
Document configuration changes, WAN design updates, and engineering decisions clearly.
Support shipboard events by testing network changes and providing on-site/remote support.
Coordinate engineering changes and cyber approvals with IPTs, governance boards, and NAVWAR-related bodies.
