Job summary

Peraton seeks an experienced Air Vehicle Systems Engineer to lead Naval Aviation efforts for the NAVAIR enterprise at Patuxent River, Lexington Park, MD. The role focuses on air vehicle aeromechanics, structures, materials, and related subsystems, guiding cross-disciplinary teams across multiple sites.

The candidate will lead technical reviews, manage risk, and coordinate with PMOs and IPTs, ensuring airworthiness and program objectives are achieved while communicating complex challenges clearly

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited bachelor of science in engineering with 12+ years of experience
• Master's in Systems Engineering or related field preferred with 10+ years experience
• Minimum 7 years with PhD
• U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME and/or Project/Program manager for NAVAIR-level programs spanning research, acquisition, testing, and in-service work.
• Lead and coordinate system-engineering activities, reviews, risk management and SOW development.
• Direct other engineers and coordinate with government, industry partners and stakeholders.
• Advocate technology transfers to government, state/local, and private sectors as appropriate.
• Develop technical approaches, cost estimates, and milestones with the team.
