Job summary

OneAmerica seeks a Lead Attorney for Washington New Americans to provide expert legal oversight of naturalization services. The role supports DOJ Accredited Representatives and staff through supervision, training, and policy guidance, ensuring ethical compliance.

Based in Seattle, this hybrid position reports to the Programs Director and advances immigrant inclusion across the state. The candidate will lead clinics, mentor volunteers, coordinate statewide efforts, and drive strategic advocacy,

Qualifications

• Licensed attorney with WA state license preferred.
• Minimum of five years of specialized naturalization/citizenship law experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in naturalization law, policy, and procedure.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound legal judgment, establish professional boundaries.
• Commitment to social justice and building power in immigrant communities.

Responsibilities

• Lead as the primary legal expert for Washington New Americans (WNA).
• Provide legal supervision, case consultation, and mentorship to DOJ Accredited Representatives and staff.
• Deliver training, resources, and capacity-building for naturalization services.
• Ensure compliance with laws, ethical requirements, and accreditation standards.
• Support staff development and capacity-building with the Programs Director.
• Perform other tasks as needed by supervisory staff.
