Native Hawaiian Legal Corporation seeks a Senior Litigation Counsel to join the Impact Litigation team. The role emphasizes government rulemaking, policy advocacy, and complex litigation with a focus on Native Hawaiian rights, water and environmental issues, and cultural protections.

This position requires extensive litigation experience, first-chair responsibilities, and a deep commitment to indigenous rights.

Formación

• 8+ years’ experience as a practicing attorney in litigation.
• Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited American law school.
• Active Hawaii license to practice law with Hawaii State Bar in good standing; limited admission possible if not licensed in Hawaii.
• Experience handling first chair responsibility in litigation; trial and appellate experience preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and manage assigned cases, including case assessment, due diligence, and formulation of litigation strategy.
• Lead discovery, witness preparation, depositions, and trial or appellate proceedings as needed.
• Draft and edit pleadings, briefs, and written advocacy; supervise others on the case.
• Build and maintain client relationships and communicate with NHLC leadership and stakeholders.
• Represent NHLC in negotiations, settlements, and strategic planning with the Litigation Director.
