Qualifications

• 8+ years’ experience in litigation as a practicing attorney.
• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Active Hawaii license and good standing with the Hawaii State Bar.
• Experience handling first chair responsibility in litigation; appellate experience preferred.
• Ability to learn Hawaii and federal law relevant to NHLC’s mission.
• Strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusion within a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage assigned cases from intake to resolution.
• Lead discovery, witness preparation, depositions, and evidentiary strategy.
• Draft, edit, and finalize pleadings and written advocacy.
• Prepare for and lead trials and appellate oral argument.
• Engage in settlement discussions on behalf of the client.
• Foster client relationships and coordinate with NHLC leadership.
• Collaborate with partner organizations and pro bono counsel.
• Perform confidential tasks and special projects as assigned.
