Job summary

Broadreach Staffing is partnering with an international commodities trading firm to recruit an Energy Trader in Houston. The role develops and executes trading strategies in North American power and natural gas markets, manages risk, and contributes to growth of the U.S.

book within an entrepreneurial team. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of trading experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to operate across spot, forward, and financial contracts.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of trading experience in North American power and/or natural gas markets.
• Proven track record of generating P&L while managing risk.
• Strong understanding of ISO/RTO market structures and energy derivatives.
• Proficiency with Python, SQL, Power BI or similar tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute trading strategies in U.S. power and/or natural gas markets (ERCOT, PJM, MISO, SPP, CAISO, Henry Hub).
• Trade physical and financial products across spot, prompt, and forward curves.
• Build and maintain fundamental views on supply, demand, weather, generation, transmission, storage, and pipeline dynamics.
• Manage positions and P&L within approved risk limits and risk framework.
• Partner with analytics and data science teams to build models, forecasts, and trading signals.
• Coordinate with scheduling, operations, and middle office for accurate trade capture and settlement.
• Develop and maintain relationships with counterparties, brokers, and exchanges.
• Monitor regulatory and market developments affecting North American energy markets.
• Contribute to growth of U.S. trading business and new market opportunities.
