Job summary

Acara Solutions seeks a Senior Electrical Designer to join our team in Toronto. You will design medium-voltage switchgear, focusing on protection and control schemes, electrical schematics, and detailed wiring diagrams, ensuring alignment with industry standards.

You will develop BOMs, select components, and collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to meet project timelines. A strong CAD proficiency and 7+ years of MV switchgear experience are required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional switchgear design experience.
• Strong knowledge of low-voltage P&C schematic design and diagrams for MV switchgear.
• Proficiency with electrical CAD tools (Zuken E3, MicroStation, Solid Edge).

Responsibilities

• Prepare low-voltage protection and control schematics and wiring diagrams for medium-voltage switchgear.
• Develop BOMs based on technical specs and project requirements.
• Select and specify electrical components (relays, CTs, VTs, MCBs).
• Collaborate with mechanical design to optimize layouts and panel arrangements.
• Provide technical support to wiring assemblers and manufacturing teams.
• Ensure designs meet CSA, IEEE, UL standards and document ECOs in 3DEXPERIENCE.
