Job summary

Wheeler Staffing Partners seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer – Medium Voltage Power Distribution for a direct-hire in Plano, TX. You will design custom MV switchgear and distribution systems for industrial and mission-critical applications.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years with MV equipment (5kV–35kV), short-circuit and arc-flash studies, and proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required.
• 4+ years in industrial, utility, or mission-critical power distribution design.
• Experience with 5kV–35kV MV equipment and protective relaying.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and one-line diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer MV and LV switchgear, switchboards, and power distribution systems.
• Develop electrical designs for 5kV–35kV equipment and protective relaying.
• Analyze proposals and specifications to create suitable power distribution solutions.
• Lead short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies.
• Create and interpret drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation.
• Apply DFA/DFM principles to reduce manufacturing costs and lead times.
• Collaborate with mechanical, production, and field teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support testing, quality, and field service during design implementation.
