Job summary

The City of Phenix City's Finance Department seeks a full-time finance professional to manage routine accounting tasks, payroll, purchasing, revenue collection, and accounts payable/receivable under the Finance Director.

Located at Municipal Building, the role is exempt, requires a Bachelor's (Master's preferred) in accounting or finance, seven years’ experience with at least two in management, and CPA preferred; duties include financial reporting, audits, asset capitalization, and ensuring

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; a Master’s degree preferred.
• Seven years of professional accounting/finance experience with at least two years in management.
• CPA certification preferred.
• Exempt status under FLSA.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and assist in monthly financial reports and the annual external financial audit.
• Review and maintain general and subsidiary ledgers.
• Guide bank reconciliations, and provide guidance to purchasing, payroll, accounts payable and receivable processes and cash management.
• Assist in recording and reporting capital assets.
• Prepare intricate journal entries and review routine accounting transactions.
• Research and collect data for grant accounting and reporting.
• Monitor compliance with GAAP and GASB standards and city, state, and federal regulations.
• Supervise the City’s banking activities and prepare cash flow projections and investment reports.
