Job summary

City of Phenix City is seeking a Revenue Accountant to ensure revenues are received and recorded accurately and timely under the direction of the Finance Director. The role liaises between Revenue Collection and Accounting, supporting cash management and month-end reporting.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and at least three years of accounting experience, preferably in government.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
• Minimum three years of accounting/finance experience; government setting preferred.
• N/A licenses or certifications.

Responsibilities

• Research state laws, regulations and city procedures related to accounting and revenue collection.
• Post daily deposits and ensure proper recording in funds and accounts.
• Assist with financial reporting and annual external audit preparations.
• Maintain petty cash counts and cash management activities.
• Ensure revenue is posted timely to correct accounts and funds.
• Communicate policies and procedures regarding revenue collection to customers.
