Job summary

The City of Boston seeks a Senior Assistant Corporation Counsel III to represent the City, its officials, and its departments. The Senior ACC III will advise City leaders on municipal law matters; represent the City in civil actions, arbitrations, administrative hearings, mediations, and negotiations.

The role includes mentoring junior attorneys, managing a caseload, advising on policy, procurement, open meeting and records laws, and drafting ordinances, contracts, memoranda, and other

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree and admission to MA Bar.
• 5–6 years as a lawyer in a law firm or government.
• Licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Supervisory legal experience preferred.
• Excellent writing and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle complex municipal law matters.

Responsibilities

• Mentors ACC I and II in litigation, contract review and negotiation.
• Manages a caseload and represents the City in state and federal venues.
• Provides representation in personal injury, contracts, education, and civil rights matters.
• Advises City on policy, procurement, open meetings, and records laws.
• Performs legal research and drafts contracts, ordinances, and memos.
• Performs specialized municipal law work and other duties as assigned.
