Job summary

Kleinfelder is seeking a Civil / Municipal Engineer to support local communities on civil, municipal, and environmental projects. The role collaborates with CAD Technicians, Construction Observers, Land Survey Chiefs, and office staff in various capacities.

Qualified candidates have a Civil/Environmental Engineering background, strong communication skills, and a valid state license or the ability to obtain one within a year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering required.
• Iowa PE license or ability to obtain within 1 year preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of civil engineering design experience preferred.
• Experience with roadway, storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water distribution design preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed technical engineering reports.
• Prepare or modify plans, specifications, construction schedules, permits, and cost and quantity estimates for public works projects.
• Coordinate with Construction Observers and Technicians during all facets of construction.
• Assist Project Manager in completing projects within budget and on schedule.
• Handle client contact including attendance at board or council meetings.
