Job summary

The City of Maypearl seeks a Senior Accountant under general supervision to perform professional accounting, technical review, and general ledger tasks. Responsibilities include journal entries, payroll, cash management, accounts receivable, and financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and government standards.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years’ experience in municipal finance and budgeting.
• A bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Must pass a criminal background check; medical physical examination and drug test may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform journal entries, payroll, cash management, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
• Prepare statements and generate invoices for payments to the City.
• Review and reconcile cash and accounting transactions; maintain fund integrity.
• Assist with grants management, budget management, investment and financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Assist with the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and annual budget; assist with payroll.
• Maintain the City’s Transparency website and department records.
