Job summary

Pillar Residential, a multifamily property management company, seeks a Senior Accountant in Dallas to handle day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of properties and deliver accurate monthly close and financial reporting. You will work with property teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure GAAP-compliant records.

The role requires 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, including multifamily experience, and strong Excel/Yardi skills. CPA candidate preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
• Four to six years of progressive accounting experience, including at least three years in multifamily property management accounting.
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial statement prep.
• Experience with monthly close, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Understanding of property-level accounting (rental income, tenant receivables, deposits).
• Experience with bank reconciliations, cash management, fixed assets, accruals, and prepaid expenses.
• Familiarity with multi-entity accounting and intercompany transactions.
• Yardi Voyager preferred; familiarity with Yardi P2P and Bill Pay Express a plus.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple properties and meet deadlines.
• Effective written and verbal communication with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage property ledgers and prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and reporting packages.
• Perform monthly close: journal entries, accruals, prepaids, depreciation, intercompany entries.
• Analyze budget-to-actual variances and ensure accurate coding.
• Reconcile balance sheet and bank accounts, reserves, and escrows.
• Reconcile tenant ledgers to general ledger and monitor deposits and prepaid rents.
• Maintain fixed asset schedules, capital expenditures, disposals, and depreciation.
• Review AP coding, aging, and payment timing; resolve duplicates.
• Monitor cash activity and support Yardi P2P and Bill Pay Express.
• Collaborate with property teams and owners on profitability and inquiries.
• Support acquisitions, dispositions, and lender reporting; assist with audits.
