Job summary

VCC is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead ground-up multifamily projects from mobilization through completion at our Santa Maria, CA location. You will be responsible for safety, schedule, quality, and cost control on large-scale builds.

The role requires minimum 5 years of supervision on commercial construction, experience with $20M+ multifamily projects, and willingness to travel. A valid driver’s license and strong leadership are essential.

• 5+ years supervising ground-up commercial construction with a general contractor.
• Experience leading $20M+ multifamily projects.
• Willingness to travel as business requires.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong leadership presence and professional communication skills.
• High standards for safety, quality, and performance.
• Located near or willing to travel to Santa Maria, CA

Responsibilities

• Enforce safety policies and build a culture of jobsite safety.
• Drive schedule performance and coordinate subcontractors in proper sequence.
• Plan construction procedures aligned with contract documents and specifications.
• Lead weekly subcontractor meetings and manage 3-week look-ahead schedules.
• Inspect work to ensure quality and specification adherence.
• Collaborate with General Superintendents, engineers, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve issues and improve construction methods.
• Coordinate material delivery and expediting with the Project Engineer.
• Obtain and monitor permits, inspections, and compliance requirements.
• Review cost reports and process back charges per SOP.
• Manage time and material approvals.
• Maintain daily documentation: reports, punch lists, billing sheets, and jobsite records.
