Job summary

VCC is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead ground-up multifamily projects from mobilization through completion in Santa Maria, CA. You will guide safety, schedule, quality, and performance on every jobsite as the field leader.

This role requires traveling as business needs, a minimum of 5 years in supervision of commercial construction, and a proven track record on $20M+ multifamily projects. VCC offers competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years supervising ground-up commercial construction with a general contractor.
• Experience leading $20M+ multifamily projects.
• Willingness to travel as business requires.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong leadership presence and professional communication skills.
• High standards for safety, quality, and performance.
• Located near or willing to travel to Santa Maria, CA.

Responsibilities

• Enforce safety policies and build a culture of jobsite safety.
• Drive schedule performance and coordinate subcontractors in proper sequence.
• Plan construction procedures aligned with contract documents and specifications.
• Lead weekly subcontractor meetings and manage 3-week look-ahead schedules.
• Inspect work to ensure quality and specification adherence.
• Collaborate with General Superintendents, engineers, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve issues and improve construction methods.
• Coordinate material delivery and expediting with the Project Engineer.
• Obtain and monitor permits, inspections, and compliance requirements.
• Review cost reports and process back charges per SOP.
• Manage time and material approvals.
• Maintain daily documentation: reports, punch lists, billing sheets, and jobsite records.
