Job summary

Gardens Alive Inc. is seeking an experienced Retail Area Manager to lead a portfolio of garden center locations. You will translate divisional priorities into strong day-to-day performance, drive field execution, and elevate store-level culture and customer experience.

You will identify and develop future leaders, oversee talent management, and collaborate with headquarters to ensure consistent standards across the fleet. This role requires travel to multiple garden centers.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive retail leadership experience with multi-unit responsibility.
• Proven success leading store managers and building high-performing teams.
• Strong talent selection, coaching, succession planning, and bench strength.
• People leadership, accountability, performance management, and retention.
• Understanding of retail operations, customer experience, labor, inventory, and financial drivers.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to use data to drive improvements.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel regularly; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and support Garden Center Managers so they can run their locations and lead engaged, accountable teams.
• Build a deep bench of future Garden Center Managers and emerging leaders by identifying, selecting, and developing top talent.
• Establish clear expectations for leadership and ensure hiring, promotion, coaching, and performance decisions reflect standards.
• Hold full accountability for field leadership talent, including onboarding, training, coaching, performance management, and retention.
• Ensure field readiness for acquisitions, transitions, and new openings; support readiness assessments and execution plans with leadership.
