Job summary

GE HealthCare in Wisconsin is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain software components for MR scanners, working closely with users, system engineers, and domain experts. The role emphasizes Linux development, microservices, and interaction with hardware in a highly regulated medical device setting, with on-site collaboration in Waukesha.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or another STEM field.
• 12+ years of experience designing, developing, and supporting production software applications.
• Minimum 10 years of experience working with Java/JEE, Swagger/Open API and Spring boot/Spring.
• Strong experience working in Unix/Linux development environments.
• Experience designing and developing microservices-based applications.
• Experience building software that interfaces with hardware, instruments, sensors, or other physical devices.
• Experience with software version control, configuration management, and build tools such as Git, Perforce, Maven, or Gradle.
• Experience working with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Artifactory.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software components and features for GE HealthCare MR scanners.
• Collaborate with users, feature leads, systems engineers, and domain experts to define and implement solutions.
• Develop software within Agile development practices and a CI environment.
• Apply software engineering principles including architecture, design, testing, security, scalability, and maintainability.
• Contribute to distributed and microservices-based applications.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical issues across software and system environments.
• Support continuous improvement across development, sustaining, and support organizations.
• Partner with domain experts to learn complex healthcare and imaging system knowledge.
• Write clear, maintainable, well-tested code meeting quality and performance standards.
• Share knowledge, mentor teammates, and contribute to a collaborative engineering culture.
