Job summary

IMRIS in North Billerica, MA is seeking a Mobility Principal Engineer to lead architecture, development, integration and verification of an MRI Mobility Subsystem, ensuring safe, reliable, and precise movement of an MRI system in the operating room.

The mobility subsystem is a highly complex safety-critical electro-mechanical system requiring coordination of hardware and software, functional safety, collision avoidance and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience developing complex electro-mechanical systems.
• Demonstrated experience leading safety-critical motion-control systems.
• Strong expertise in mobility system architecture, motorized motion systems, electro-mechanical integration, functional safety, system verification and validation.
• Experience with medical devices, robotics, automation, or heavy mobile equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of mechanical subsystems for an MRI system.
• Collaborate with Electrical, RF, Magnet, Gradient, and Software Engineering teams to ensure successful system integration.
• Develop and execute mechanical verification test plans and protocols.
• Support regulatory & quality compliance and documentation (DHF) for medical device standards.
