Job summary

Jefferson Parish in Harvey, LA is seeking to establish an eligible list for the position of Large Mowers Equipment Operator III to safely and efficiently operate large mowing equipment and perform basic maintenance in accordance with safety programs and procedures.

The role includes inspecting equipment, maintaining tires, oil, leaks and fluids, and may require driving a parish vehicle with an appropriate license. The job is subject to standby, call outs, and emergency duty status.

Qualifications

• Verifiable, satisfactory experience operating Large Mowers (such as Multi-Reel Gang, Slope Mower, Triple Flail, or similar).
• Completion of approved training course in operating Large Mowers (such as Multi-Reel Gang, Slope Mower, Triple Flail, or similar).
• Current Civil Service employees with Jefferson Parish MUST receive signed verification from an appointing authority of satisfactory, on-job training to operate Large Mowers (such as Multi-Reel Gang, Slope Mower, Triple Flail, or similar).

Responsibilities

• Operate Large Mowers and inspect/maintain equipment (tires, oil levels, leaks, coolant, lights, wipers).
• Perform light laboring work with or without hand tools when not operating equipment.
• Possess a valid Louisiana Driver's License (Class D) to perform tasks as assigned and drive parish vehicles.
