Job summary

Milwaukee Tool seeks a Senior Motors Engineer to lead design, testing and optimization of brushed, brushless DC, universal and induction motors for power tools. You will work across engineering teams, perform experiments, simulations, and root-cause analyses while driving supplier specs and mass-production readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in related design field (with Bachelors).
• 2+ years of experience in related design field (with Masters).
• Experience using CAD.
• Understand use of FEA.
• Understand theory of Brushless DC Motors.
• Familiarity with Brushed PMDC, Universal, Induction and Switched Reluctance motors.
• Understanding of motor controls, battery technology, vibration and sound analysis.
• Understanding of motor assembly and manufacturing cost drivers.
• Ability to travel 10% of the time (domestic and international).

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, test and troubleshoot motors for high complexity projects.
• Establish and drive test regimens for components and assemblies.
• Conduct hands-on experiments, simulations and data-driven conclusions.
• Perform root cause failure analysis of motor test failures.
• Drive supplier relationships to meet performance specs within process capabilities.
• Mass produce power tool motor designs following Milwaukee Tool processes.
• Make electromagnetic design changes to laminations for performance improvements.
• Communicate progress and escalate risks to leadership.
