Job summary

Marotta Controls in Chaska, MN is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer for Motor Design to lead design, prototyping, and testing of high-performance electric motors for aerospace/defense. You will drive material selection, GD&T, and electromagnetic analysis while coordinating with actuation and test engineers to optimize cost, efficiency, and reliability.

The role requires 7–12 years in EM motors, strong communication skills, and a US citizenship.

Qualifications

B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
7–12 years of electro-magnetic motors, windings, products and systems experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication for multi-level interactions.
Proficiency with MS Office and relevant engineering tools.

Responsibilities

Design, prototype, assemble and test electromagnetic motor topologies for aerospace/defense use.
Develop breakthrough motor technologies to win in served market segments.
Select materials, apply GD&T to optimize manufacturability and cost.
Perform electromagnetic analysis (FEM, simulation, modeling).
Collaborate with actuation and test engineers to optimize cost, efficiency, and performance.
Review supplier processes and ensure conformity to specs and documentation.
