Job summary

Bascom Hunter is seeking a Principal Motor Design Engineer to lead design, analysis, and development of electric motors for aerospace and defense. This senior role covers PMSM, BLDC, and AC synchronous motors, including full lifecycle from requirements to production.

The ideal candidate has deep motor design expertise, hands-on ANSYS Motor-CAD experience, and strong multiphysics capabilities across electromagnetic, thermal, and structural domains. U.S. Citizenship is required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering; Master’s preferred.
10+ years designing electric motors or high‑reliability machinery.
Experience with PMSM/BLDC/AC synchronous motor design and thermal management.

Responsibilities

Lead design and development of PMSM, BLDC, AC synchronous motors for aerospace/defense.
Review requirements, develop motor-level specs, and verify criteria.
Perform electromagnetic design and thermal/structural analyses using ANSYS.
Oversee rotating assemblies, bearing systems, tolerances, and test plans.
Mentor engineers and collaborate across electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams.
