Job summary

Truist is seeking a Senior Underwriting Leader to guide underwriting managers within Retail Loan Fulfillment from its office in the United States. You will drive department goals, ensure alignment with risk management, and mentor a team to uphold underwriting standards.

You will maintain deep knowledge of mortgage lending products and policies, act as escalation on credit decisions, and ensure quality metrics are met while adhering to risk parameters. The role is in-office five days a week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and training.
• Eight years in large bank with emphasis on operational and credit risk management.
• Four years of management/leadership experience.
• Understanding of origination life cycle and GSE underwriting guidelines.
• Strong credit, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of compliance, risk and regulatory parameters.
• Ability to travel, occasionally overnight.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and leadership to Underwriting Managers and staff within Retail Loan Fulfillment.
• Maintain mortgage lending product knowledge and ensure risk-parameter compliant credit decisions.
• Support training and development of managers and staff.
• Plan staffing in coordination with capacity forecasts and provide recommendations.
• Foster relationships with sales channels and leadership; participate in divisional meetings.
• Identify opportunities to adjust Credit Policy and Underwriting Authority criteria to mitigate risk.
