Deep knowledge of credit, income, assets, and loan documentation.
Proven track record in leading teams and implementing process improvements.
Strong leadership, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Experience with Encompass and workflow automation tools.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor underwriters and support staff with performance reviews and training.
Monitor workflow metrics and drive improvements to meet SLAs.
Set submission requirements with origination and operations; reduce resubmissions.
Collaborate with operations to ensure smooth hand-offs between departments.
Review complex underwriting files and provide final decisions when needed.
Maintain knowledge of mortgage regulations and adjust underwriting practices.
Oversee quality control and root-cause analysis to drive improvement.
Present underwriting metrics and insights to senior leadership.
