Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in residential mortgage underwriting.
• Four or more years of residential mortgage underwriting experience.
• Strong knowledge of FNMA, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, USDA/Rural Development, private mortgage insurance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite conventional and government loan products with focus on investment-quality loans.
• Analyze borrower credit, income, assets, collateral, and loan structure to meet standards.
• Exercise delegated underwriting authority and escalate loans exceeding limits.
• Prepare and submit MI packages for loans requiring MI approval.
• Maintain knowledge of agency, investor, and MI guidelines and updates.
• Provide guidance and training on underwriting guidelines and documentation requirements.
• Ensure adherence to fair lending, AML/BSA, and regulatory requirements.
• Review policy exceptions and governance standards.
• Support audits and regulatory exams with documentation and rationale.
