Job summary

ORNL Federal Credit Union is seeking a Mortgage Underwriter III to underwrite residential mortgage loans, including Jumbo, Construction-to-Perm, HELOC and condo reviews, in alignment with federal, state, and investor guidelines.

The role requires strong analytical ability, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work independently on complex files. You will collaborate with internal partners, train teammates as needed, and ensure timely, compliant decisions within service levels.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in mortgage underwriting, with focus on FNMA, FHLMC, Jumbo and Construction-to-Perm.
• Minimum 3 years mortgage or HELOC underwriting experience.
• Working knowledge of Encompass preferred.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite residential loan requests, including Jumbo, Portfolio, Construction-to-Perm, HELOC and condo reviews.
• Adhere to credit union policies, regulatory requirements and investor guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with internal partners throughout the Mortgage process.
• Provide training and act as SME for underwriting policies and procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
